Jeffrey Pai is a professional Erhu soloist and instructor with over 20 years of experience.

Born and raised in Vancouver BC, Canada, Jeffrey began his Erhu journey in the year 2002 as a way to stay connected with his cultural roots.

Jeffrey holds a Professional Stringed-Instrument Performance Diploma (CCM Equivalent) as an Erhu soloist and recently received Gold (Solo Mastery - Erhu) and an Outstanding Musicality Award at the 2025 Stanford Baipu International Music Competition. He was also awarded First Place in the Kiwanis Level 10 Ethnic Stringed Instrument in 2012 (98.1%), performed on TV and international stages, and has also composed Erhu music for film, "Tricks on the Dead" (2015).

I have been teaching the Erhu for over 13 years now and have had the pleasure of working with University ensembles, adult learners, children, as well as seniors.

Teaching is a profound passion of mine, and over the years I have developed a successful teaching method that incorporates methods from both my formal training as a musician and as an actor - focusing on the process and discovery of overcoming individual challenges while celebrating small victories along the way.

Every student has their own unique stories and challenges that they will face, and seeing a student light up whenever they master a new technique - that's the real reward.

If you're looking to get started with your Erhu journey or to elevate your skills - you've come to the right place.

Looking forward to working with you!
